The South Australian Government has revealed plans to introduce industrial manslaughter laws to Parliament, make a string of changes to the State WHS Act, and start overhauling the WHS regulator's case management system, all within the next financial year.
A range of WHS amendments, including some improving harmonisation, are set to follow the root-and-branch review of SafeWork SA, but they won't include the softening of an entry rule pertaining to health and safety representatives, with the State Government emphatically rejecting a recommendation around this area.
Proposed industrial manslaughter provisions released for feedback in South Australia will, according to unions, cover suicides attributable to workplace bullying and harassment, as with Victoria's version of the offence.
