In another Australian first, Tasmania has cemented plans to provide presumptive workers' compensation to all public servants - and possibly private sector workers - with post-traumatic stress disorder, despite a review advising against legislative change.

The NSW Government has acted on its May 2018 plan to overhaul the dispute resolution process for injured workers through legislative amendments. It has also welcomed Sydney's successful bid to host the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.

A Senate inquiry has called on the Australian Government to ensure legislated workplace health and safety rights for workers who are not classified as employees or perform non-standard work, with the proliferation of the gig economy.
